I-9 Verifications
Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) is a form required by the Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services. It must be completed by all employers for every new employee hired after November 6, 1986, in order to comply with federal law requiring that employers hire only individuals who may legally work in the United States.
The completion of section 2 of the I-9 is not a notarial act and must not be completed under a notarial seal. However, because notaries routinely examine documentation of identification as part of their duties, they are considered uniquely qualified to act as an authorized agent for the companies in the completion of I-9 forms.
Lancaster PA Notary can assist you with verifying the employment eligibility status of your newly hired personnel and serve as your authorized representatives for the I-9 verification process, which is especially beneficial for out-of-state employers and remote worker recruiters.
We will carefully review the identity and employment authorization documents presented to them, in compliance with the Department of Homeland Security’s guidelines.
